From the beginning in 1998, “Salud Militar” has established milestones among national scientic publications. This
communication tool of the Armed Forces National Health Direction must, according to its specic goal, keep the pace
of scientic and academic developments, on a national and international level as well.
During recent years, our country has chosen the path of knowledge, with a large investment in science and technology,
through the creation of the ANII (Investigation and Innovation National Agency); this is a government agency created for
the promotion of investigation and the application of new knowledge to our country’s productive and social reality. This
is achieved by offering more than thirty instruments, from funds for investigation projects, post graduate national and
international scholarships, to incentive programs for innovative culture and “entrepreneurism”, in the private and public
sector as well. Conceptually aligned with this government initiative, our Institution perseveres in its effort to make the
publication of “Salud Militar” an instrument of quality for the presentation of papers, articles, and scientic and academic
subjects. It is worthy to note that, in 2011, we were accepted by the LATINDEX portal, therefore the visibility of our
publication has been greatly increased; and, since last year, we have become part of the Open Access Platform for
Spanish and Latin American Electronic Scientic Journals and e-Journals. This platform was created within the frame
of a project, supported by the Higher Council of Scientic Investigations (CSIC), in order to make a contribution for the
awareness and visibility of scientic journals published in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal.
All we have previously expressed encourages us to keep improving every day, so that we shall offer our readers a
quality publication, with the approval of a national and international level multi disciplinary Editorial Committee, assuring
and granting prestige to the scientic contents of the published material.
