In 1944 the Martirené Pavilion (work of the Uruguayan architects Carlos Surraco and Sara Murialdo, 1942) in the Hospital “Colonia Sanatorial Gustavo Saint
Bois” received a group of artists from the Escuela del Sur, better known as Taller Torres-García, a visual art academy where the doctrine of its manager, Joaquín Torres-García (Montevideo, July 28, 1874 - August 8, 1949) was disseminated and practiced. His presence in the Martirené Pavilion resulted in an unpublished
mural painting work in South America
