Abstract
La tendencia de las revistas latinoamericanas es la del acceso abierto, movimiento conocido también por su nombre y siglas en inglés: Open Access (OA), una de sus variantes es que los artículos evaluados por pares publicados en revistas científicas estén disponibles gratuitamente, con el fin de que los autores sean citados y reconocidos.
La transición de la edición científica al ámbito digital hace que las revistas se vean obligadas a ser de calidad o a no ser, actualmente no tiene sentido publicar por publicar, una revista sólo tiene razón de ser si aspira a la excelencia: disponiendo de un equipo cualificado, exigiendo calidad en sus originales e incluyendo profesionales de máximo nivel en sus equipos editoriales, científicos y evaluadores.
Entonces Salud Militar evoluciona, se profesionaliza y migra a un sistema Digital online de Edición de Revistas: Open Journal System (OJS). Un primer paso fue disponer los artículos en la web en formato html o pdf, el segundo es la edición digital en su máxima expresión, aprovechando el ágil procesamiento de manuscritos, resumiendo los tiempos entre la recepción y la publicación de un trabajo, no tener límites en la paginación, se pueden aplicar al máximo los colores, sin restricciones en imágenes, gráficos, tablas. Esto nos lleva a prescindir de la impresión en papel como fuente primaria de divulgación, pasando a ser una forma más de visibilidad, pero, no la única y menos aún la principal. (...)
