Globalization in health care brings countries closer to each other thanks to the tools offered by information technologies, allowing us to interact and exchange knowledge and experiences more quickly and efficiently (1).
This complex phenomenon has a multidimensional impact on health; it is important because it allows us to understand the risks and opportunities it presents, and to work to ensure that globalization contributes to the universalization, coverage, sustainability and equity of health systems.
The academic debate in Public Health has recently focused on pro-globalization authors who emphasize the potential benefits of using new information technologies to achieve system efficiency through tele-medicine or tele-health as a tool that would meet the objectives of universal coverage (2).
